Student Spotlight
Megan Kelly
What year are you? And what are you studying?
I am a senior majoring in Psychology and Law, as well as Criminal Justice. After college, I plan on getting a job in event planning and marketing. Ever since I joined PACE it opened a new door for me into something I actually enjoy, even though it doesn’t have anything to do with my major. By the time I figured out that event planning is what I really like to do, it was too late to change my studies. I started to realize that I really enjoyed working with music and bands and I liked what went into it, as well as the semantics. I enjoy being able to watch something I helped plan and coordinate, knowing that every second during the process I was enjoying it. That’s how I knew I enjoyed PACE. It keeps my attention and has challenged me in many ways.
Are you a part of any clubs or activity organizations on campus?
I am a part of PACE and Spring Fling, and I work in the Student Activities Office on campus as an office assistant. I’m able to work close with a lot of cool people who like what they do.
Aside from being a student, what else are you involved in?
On some weekends, I work in the lab of a factory in Manchester that produces aerosol parts for the aerosol cans. I’m in the lab technician section, which is pretty cool because I’m getting experience in data collection and research development. I’m getting a good work ethic and over the summer I worked 40 hours a week on an eight to four hour shift. It gave me a feel for what a stable job is like.
If you had any words of advice for the new students on campus (first-year or transfer), what would you tell them?
It benefits them to explore other subject matters and see if anything sparks an interest, while at the same time it is important to count towards the credits needed to graduate.
