Want to feel the wind run through your hair? Are you looking for a place you can go to unwind and have fun? Well good news everyone, the Plymouth State University Ice Arena has public skate sessions everyday of the week open to all students, faculty, and NH residents.

The PSU Ice arena is not only the home to the Plymouth State Men and Women's ice hockey teams, but it also offers fun and exciting programs to the general public as well. These programs include public skate sessions, broomball, youth hockey, figure skating programs, and learn-to-skate or learn-to-play-hockey sessions.

PSU Students receive free admission for all public sessions-with valid PSU ID.  This does not include skate rental of $4.00.  But if students have their own skates, they can participate for free in any and all of the public skate sessions, with their student ID. The trained staff members can also sharpen figure or hockey skates for five dollars. The arena accepts payments by flex-cash, credit or debit cards, checks, and cash.

"The best part about public skating is really being around your friends and knowing that no one will judge you there, and there are great people there who are willing to help you if you need help on skates," said PSU sophomore, Liz Hodges.

Skating is open to anyone at any skill level. Even for those who have never skated before, it is a very rewarding experience, and it doesn't take too long to learn to skate.

"Everyone at the rink is helpful and they offer milk crates if you want to learn to skate! If your scared, people at the rink are totally willing to help. If you're interested, PSU does offer basic ice skating classes, which I think are great," said Hodges.

For students that are interested in playing hockey, feel free to come to an Adult Open Hockey session for $10.00, the schedule is updated every 30 min, and can be found on the ice arena's website at: www.skateplymouthstate.com.

"Every open hockey experience I have had has been a blast. There are a variety of skill levels, but nobody take it too serious. It's always good for a laugh and a good work out. You feel great after the skate," said senior, Maxim Willwerth.

The ice arena not only provides students, faculty members, and residents with tons of activities such as public skate sessions, open hockey, teen night, and Men and Women ice hockey games, it also adds a lot to the community and to the University.

"The rink has done wonders for the school and community. Both Men and Women's ice hockey teams are growing and it has become a more desirable location for players. It has also helped the community develop youth hockey teams like the Plymouth Predators, and still in the works, a Plymouth High School club hockey team," said Willwerth.

Getting involved and staying active are key components to having fun in life. It is also important to take risks, because they can be very rewarding in the end. Students, and faculty members, and residents can benefit from taking a break from their busy schedules to come and skate at the ice arena, for it can be a fun, exciting, and memorable experience.
