The Plymouth State University softball team's season ended on Thursday, May 6 as they fell to Keene State College and Eastern Connecticut in the Little East Conference Tournament by scores of 17-0 and 3-0.

PSU would only collect four hits between the two games on the day.  Junior outfielder Andrea Pydynkowski, senior Sammi Romano, and first year student Jenn Bove would collect one hit apiece against KSC, while sophomore Allie Luisi would get the only hit for PSU against Eastern Connecticut.

PSU first year student Diana Bean had a stellar pitching performance against EastConn as she pitched six strong innings only giving up three runs and two walks despite giving up nine outs.  She would also strike out two batters on the day.

Against KSC, PSU would give sophomore Ali Keith the atart but she only lasted 3.2 innings as she surrendered seven runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two.  Bean would also pitch 1.1 innings against KSC as she gave up eight earned runs on nine hits while walking no one and striking no one out.

Although PSU's season ended roughly in the LEC tournament, they did accomplish a lot.  PSU finished the season in sixth place in the LEC and finished with an overall record of 13-22 and an LEC record of 5-9.

Junior catcher and third baseman Kortney Nedeau led the team in home runs and runs batted in (RBIs) as she had seven home runs and 24 RBIs.  Allie Luisi would led the team with 41 hits on the year as she posted a remarkable batting average of .398.
PSU started out slow and ended slow but had a very successful middle part of the season.  PSU lost nine of their first ten games and eight of their last ten games (including the two LEC tournament losses); but would find success in the middle part of the season. PSU would have a streak where they won six of nine games from Thursday April 1 to Thursday April 15, PSU.

PSU's early season struggles could be explained somewhat by their youth and inexperience.  PSU entered the season only having four seniors on the roster and only two juniors. The rest of the roster was made up of underclassmen sophomores and freshmen.
Despite only having four seniors this season, the future is looking up for PSU softball as 12 of the 16 players on the roster are non-seniors.  With garnered experience and maturity, PSU hopes to have this season spring-board them into the next few years as they look to capitalize on this season's youth.
