Plymouth Power Rankings
Players
1. Mike Freitag, Men’s Hockey (Unranked last issue): Freitag has found the back of the net the past three games, including a highlight-reel goal against UMass Dartmouth. Freitag has four goals and two assists through five games.
2. Alivia Bates, Field Hockey (Unranked last issue): After letting up only a goal in 140 minutes of play, Bates was named Most Outstanding Player in the ECAC post-season tournament. The freshman ends the season with a 1.67 goals against average.
3. Chris Perrault, Wrestling (Unranked last issue): The junior was able to pin his opponent in 1:04, which was the quickest of any wrestler at PSU’s opening match. Perrault went 27-7 last season.
4. Gordon Ceasar, Men’s Hockey (Unranked last issue): Over the past two and a half games that he has been in net, Ceasar has let in three goals to improve his record to 2-1-1. He was named MASAC Goalie of the Week for his efforts.
5. Curtis Arsenault, Men’s Basketball (Unranked last issue): Against Rivier, Arsenault shot 9-11 from the field to compliment 20 points to lead PSU to their first win of the season.
Teams
1. Field Hockey (14-5, last issue 2nd): Behind strong play from Alivia Bates, this team was able to capture the ECAC postseason championship for the third time in five seasons. Bates was named Most Outstanding Player for the tournament.
2. Wrestling (1-0, Unranked last issue): PSU was able to start off the season 1-0 upon coming-back from a 10-0 deficit to defeat Norwich 23-22. The Doug Parker Invitational looms this weekend to see if the Panthers can keep the momentum going.
3. Men’s Hockey (2-2-1, Unranked last issue): Five big points in conference play have given this team a head start to home ice advantage. Defeating Worcester State on Saturday (11/22) night would give this team a nice cushion heading into Thanksgiving break.
4. Women’s Basketball (2-1, Unranked last issue): Back-to-back wins have given this team a winning record for the first time since January 2011. Two games over the next few days give this team the potential to gain confidence and momentum for their 2014-2015 season.
5. Men’s Basketball (1-1, Unranked last issue): Against Rivier, this team was able to cruise to a 81-32 victory by forcing 28 turnovers, and winning the rebounding battle 42-22. Three games remain prior to Thanksgiving break.
