The Women's Hockey team has started their season off with two big wins to kick-off the 2013-2014 season, as they have defeated Sacred Heart University as well as New England College. One of the key contributors in that game was Junior forward Kelsey Cosby (Walpole, MA), who led the Lady Panthers in points last season.

There are high expectations within the locker room this year for PSU, and Cosby looks to lead the team to their second playoff birth in team history (the first being last year's 2012-2013 campaign).

1.  How long have you been playing hockey for?

I started playing hockey going into sixth grade so bout 8 years ago

2.  How does the hockey team look for the 2013-2014 season?

We look really solid. Definitely the best team so far in Plymouth State women's ice hockey history.  I'm excited to see how much we    grow throughout the season.

      3.  What is your most memorable moment in your hockey career?

Probably making the team here at Plymouth State. I didn't know what to expect but I was thrilled and ready for the challenge to change this program around.

4.  Do you have any superstitions on game-day?

I always tie my left skate first and hug one of my teammates (Cortney Sollows) before we go on the ice

5.  What was your "Welcome to hockey" moment in your career?

5 am practices in high school every Monday and Thursday.  It was a struggle but thats what made me realized I must really love hockey.

6.  If I were to look at you Ipod/ITunes/etc. what would be the five most played songs?

Party for Two - Shania Twain

Holy Grail - Jay z, Justin Timberlake

          Lose Yourself - Eminem

That's my kind of night -Luke Bryan

7.  Last year was the first year that the Women's hockey team made the playoffs in Panther history. What did this mean to both you and the team?

It means we have a lot to work for.  We want that and more.  Making it to the playoffs was an incredible thing to accomplish.  But, this year we are trying to get past the first round of playoffs.  We know what it's going to take and we are ready for anything.

8.  Since you got to PSU, this team has vastly improved. What has led to this?

Each year more and more talent comes into the program.  Being able to work together as a team and be successful is what our coach helps us accomplish.  We all push each other during practice and games.  Every year we becoming closer and trust one another.  I think that is a huge factor in improving as a team.

9.  Head Coach Ashley Kilstein was named ECAC Coach of the Year last season. What traits does she have that set her apart from other coaches?

Coach has the biggest heart.  She wants each of us to succeed and grow as hockey players.  All of us have so much emotion during every game and practice because of her.  She pushes us as much as possible and makes sure we aren't taking hockey for granted.

10.  What are your individual goals for the 2013-2014 season, and what are your expectations for the team this year?

My individual goal for this season is to be a leader and to always try my hardest no matter what.  My expectations from this team are that they also always try their hardest, no matter the outcome.  They already put everything they have on the ice so far, so I know every is going to be a well fought battle.
