Tough Loss in Home Opener for PSU Football

Mount Ida 22 - Plymouth 12

Plymouth, N.H.- The Plymouth State Men's Football team hosted Mount Ida College in their home opener this past Saturday at Currier Field.

Plymouth State got on the board on their first possession as senior Nick Cavallo drilled a 36-yard field goal to put PSU up 0-3 after the 1st.

The Panthers got on the board again on their first possession of the 2nd quarter, when Dustin Matthews ran into the end zone from 15 yards to put the Panthers up 0-9. Mount Ida finally got on the board after a 71-yard touchdown pass to cut the score to 9-7. Plymouth State was able to extend the score to 7-12 going into the 2nd half on a 33-yard field goal.

Mount Ida was able to recover a fumble on the first play of the 2nd half and bring it back to take their first lead of the game and go up 15-12 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Mount Ida sealed the win when they picked off a throw late in the 4th and return it for a final score of 22-12.

Plymouth State plays again this Saturday at Maine Maritime.
