PAWesome Night at PSU
The PAW event held on Fri., Jan. 31, from 9 p.m.-11 p.m. in the HUB courtroom was offered to all students as a night of activities and to find out about all the organizations and clubs around campus.
"I was impressed with the amount of students who showed up on a Friday night and with the amount of canned goods that were donated" said Terri Potter of Student Life.
T-shirts were given to those who donated a canned food item (which will be going to the Student Support Foundation on campus) and Sodexo held a free late-night dining to all students. They had chair massages, a photo booth, and a Wrecking Ball inflatable. The Outdoors Center held slack-lining and frisbee toss.
"The location was great and we have a bigger turnout than last year," said Adam Groves, a senior.
Other activities were held such as s'mores making in the fireplace lounge and a basketball skill shooting for prizes. The evening was full of excitement with the dance team putting on a performance and the pep band playing. The event also was a small rendition of the Student Activities Fair that occurs each semester to inform students of fun organizations offered on campus.
"It's always nice to see all the organizations and clubs coming together," said senior Yulan Millican, a senior.
"I really enjoyed it. I met a lot of new people and I'm excited about the art club," said Alicia, a freshman.
New organizations like the Ski Club and Curling were offered among established ones like MAPS and Poets and Writers. There were giveaways including river rafts and a raffle for a free trip with the Outdoors Center. The goal of the event was to give students activities to do at night rather than going out or staying in their dorm room.
"It's such a great opportunity for students to find out information about the many organizations on campus and get involved with them," said Groves.
