Real Sports Talk with E$
To quote Jay-Z, “so this here is my victory lap.” By that, it means that this is the second to last issue of this damn newspaper that I am writing in. It’s been one hell of a ride, and I can assure you one thing, and that is that this column in two weeks is going to be pretty damn long. There are lots of people to give acknowledgement to, and I obviously have to make sure that everyone gets included (though, I’m sure that I will forget a few people). I’m not feeling the whole “write paragraphs about sports” thing this week, plus it’s a hell of a lot easier to go where ever the hell my mind takes me while I make bullet points.
In other irrelevant (though I find interesting) sports news:
-Tim Tebow to Philadelphia Eagles. What a team that will be this season.
-My annual “best names in the NFL Draft” this season- Xzavier Dickson, Hroniss Grasu, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, and Jaquiski Tartt.
-Sucks that we couldn’t have a “10 Seconds with…” in the paper this week. That’s what happens when you trust other people to do their job.
-Congrats to the seniors of PSU WLax, as it was Senior Day earlier this week. I can truthfully say that the five of them have become my friends, and really hope that they roll in the LECs in a few weeks.
-The NFL Draft is a unique event, as it is extremely boring to watch, yet exciting to see what way teams decide to go. I personally can’t wait for it to get going in less than a week.
-Since when are the New York Mets relevant in baseball?
-Game fours are the most crucial when it comes to a seven game series. Being able to go up 3-1 in a series, instead of being tied 2-2 is such a HUGE difference. Case in point, look at the New York Rangers defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in game four. All they need is a great 60-minute game, and they are set to roll after a huge overtime victory. The New York Islanders went from being ahead of the Washington Capitals 2-1 in the series to 2-2 upon losing in overtime. There is absolutely NOTHING like playoff hockey.
-Crazy how Aaron Hernandez’s life has changed in the past five years. He went from a $40 million contract to life in prison.
Non-Sports Information of the Week:
Rant of the week- Some of the stuff that people put on Facebook blows my mind. Outside of rare occasions, I’ll put up this column and pictures on my Facebook, and that is about it. There are way too many people that go on, and just bitch and moan about their lives. No one cares.
-Can’t wait to pet the hell out of my dog when I see him in a few weeks.
-Can’t wait for Tyler Cote, and the rest of the sixth floor of Grafton to be in Plymouth in a few days.
-Trip to Las Vegas is officially booked with Matt, Tyler, and Billy. Can’t WAIT for how much fun it is going to be (and really wasn’t that expensive at all).
-Still on the search to get some sort of bite when it comes to jobs. Haven’t heard back from a single soul, but just gotta keep grindin’ away, and get someone to take the bait.
-Speaking of bait, I really want to go fishing.
-Shout-out to the kids that are on the rugby team. People that are on the rugby team are suppose to be some of the most badass people on campus, but when my broomball team played them this past Wednesday, they were bitching that we were being too physical with them. What happen to the good ol’ days when Matt Wood ran house for the Norsemen?
-Speaking of broomball, was fun playing with the football boys earlier this week. A unique group, but characters as well.
-Shout-out to Ashley Kilstein for keeping it real at the PSU Women’s lacrosse this week. She’s awesome.
-I’ll never understand why people think it’s cool/funny to leave their “personal waste” in a toilet bowl. Just flush it you immature SOB.
-Keep doing you, Rob Blount. Pumped to see where you will be this time next year.
-A tough lesson that I have learned over the past few years, is that no one is going to help you with jobs. For a while, I was hoping that some of the faculty would help me with internships/jobs, but I never really got that help. Upon figuring this out (and it took me a pretty long time), I got that internship in January, and have been able to meet a number of broadcast meteorologist, in which some went to Plymouth, and others haven’t. Definitely my biggest words of wisdom to underclassmen; not many people will help take you where you want, you gotta want it bad enough to find it yourself.
-Currently talking to the kid that will eventually replace me in Justin Siewierski. He’s gonna do a pretty good job after I get the hell outta here, but size 15 shoes ain’t easy to fill.
-This Downeast Cider that I am having right now is pretty damn good. If you like cider, I recommend it.
-While I’m doing the whole shout-out thing, gotta give a big thanks to Kristin Tracy on the acknowledgement at the Women’s lacrosse team’s Senior Day. It meant a lot to me to get that acknowledgement (and couldn’t have picked a better person to walk with other then Sean Gleason!!)!
-Calling it now- people are going to make this campus look like absolute crap Spring Fling weekend. Kids have been the worse I’ve seen as far as just creating messes this year, and 2015 won’t be one that will disappoint in that regard.
-My nose has been running like that of Usain Bolt over the past 24 hours. It’s like the mucus gods are having a party in my honker.
-What strange weather it has been in Plymouth lately. Only 80 miles North on I-93 could you have thunderstorms, 70 degree weather, and snow within a 48 hour span.
Real Talk with Eric- Don’t be a shithead over Spring Fling weekend.
‘Til the next time I write this, I’m outta here…..
