Letter to the Editor
OMG did you hear Becky?
My political science professor was saying there is this really important thing happening on November 2nd.
What Clarissa a concert? No not a concert something called an election?
Election sounds boring and lame.
Do you even know what it means?
No and why should I, like I said it sounds lame really lame.
Really? Well it's not here is why! Apparently after these elections are over the winners get sent to Washington and Concord. So what laws get passed all the time and I never notice. Well it's like this you that girl Jane the one you went to the party with she was talking about how she wanted to get married and adopt kids and stuff; but couldn't? Yeah what about her? Well apparently the republicans that are running for this thing called congress want to pass laws making it almost impossible for Jane to get married to her partner! Alright so what about the adoption thing? That's a negative too if the republicans get their way! What no way that's so cruel Jane and her partner would make great parents! And what about all those kids in foster care that needs good homes? Oh yeah I totally forgot about that. But if the democrats they want Jane to be able to marry and adopt kids. So this whole thing is about gay marriage and adoption. No that's just one issue there are tons of other issues out there that the two sides are fighting over. Another big one is education. What I want to be a teacher! Yeah me too so you should probably pay attention to this my professor said that Republicans want to cut the education budgets in Washington and Concord by 20%. That means fewer teachers, books, and other supplies for students. And don't forget about the environment; Republicans hate the idea of holding BP responsible for the damage they caused to the Gulf of Mexico. Man Republican positions suck and are terrible but what can I do? Well there was this guest speaker in my class and he laid out three things we can do. First, see if there is a club on campus which helps on campaigns for the democrats, and sign up. My professor said it's called the Plymouth State University democrats. Second help get the word out. We need to have this exact conversation with as many of our friends and possible. And lastly, register to vote and vote. That is super easy to do all you need is proof of citizen ship and age.
So what would that be like your driver's license?
Yes, November 2nd is voting day
