PSU Football Falls To MIT
MIT 28 - PSU 7
Cambridge, Mass
The Plymouth State defense surrendered a touchdown in each quarter, and the offense turned the ball over four times as the Engineers of MIT rolled over the Panthers 28-7 in NEFC Boyd Division action.
The win was the first ever for MIT over Plymouth State in seven career meetings. Sophomore Brad Goldsberry finished the game with 121 yards rushing, and his first quarter touchdown put the Engineers up for good as they would never trail in the contest.
The stingy MIT defense held Plymouth to only 91 total yards in the first half. Cameron Wager and Matt Merlino lead the way, each picking off Panthers' quarterback Jake Tyler.
MIT finished the day with 415 yards of total offense, besting Plymouth State's 237. Senior Andrew Foglia led the Panther offense, picking up 82 rushing yards on 15 carries. Tyler chipped in completing eight of twelve passes for 81 yards. Senior Josh Morgan anchored the defense with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The win boosted MIT's record to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Boyd Division, while the loss dropped Plymouth state to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the NEFC. MIT will play at Western New England next Saturday, while the Panthers will return home to host Endicott on Saturday for Hall of Fame day at Currier Field at 2:00 p.m
