What got you started with football?
My dad got me started playing football when I was six years old. I was on my towns first flag football team. I’ve been playing football ever since.
How big was an adjustment was it going from high school football to college ball?
Going from high school football to college football was a huge adjustment. College football involves more technique, and there is less room for error. Game speed is much faster and everyone is bigger, stronger, and faster. College football takes up more of your time and is much more work. It is year round training, lifting, and conditioning. You have to find a way to balance out football, school, and being a college student.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In the spring I will be graduating with a degree in Environmental Planning. Next I hope to go to graduate school for sustainable design or green building. In five years I hope to be working for an architecture, engineering, or construction firm. Designing buildings or public spaces in cities is what I want to be doing.
What is your favorite football memory?
One of my favorite memories at Plymouth State came a few weeks ago at our Homecoming game vs Westfield. Coming back to tie the game and forcing it into overtime, and then winning in overtime was a great moment. The entire game we believed we could win, and winning a game like that in overtime is one of the reasons why I love playing football so much.
What was your ‘welcome to football’ moment?
My welcome to college football moment came our opening game sophomore year vs Castleton. This was the first college football game that I ever started. My older brother went and played at Castleton so it was an even bigger game for me. It was a rivalry game to me.
How are you and your team looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s loss?
This week we have a big challenge ahead of us playing Framingham, who is one of the top teams in our conference. We believe that we could win by controlling the things that we can control. Our team believes that we can go out there and beat any team on any given Saturday. This week we have to build upon the things that we have a success with, and fix the mistakes that we have made. A saying that our team has had this year is “Be Old School.”
How is your team shaping up for the rest of the season?
This year our team knows that we can finish our season strong and win our remaining games. The last couple years we haven’t accomplished what we have wanted to. This year
