In an impressive showing on Saturday at Keene State College, Plymouth State’s men’s cross country team took third place in the Little East Conference Championships for the first time; their best finish since joining the LEC three years ago. The team scored a total of 81 points, which locked them in at third place behind Keene State College with 21 points and University of Southern Maine with 64 points.
Led by freshman Sam Brunnette (Newport, VT; 26 minutes 39 seconds) and freshman Warren Bartlett (Loudon, NH 26 minutes 50 seconds), the Panther’s posted their best average time of the season. The two placed fifth and sixth out of a field of 71 runners. Brunnette and Bartlett were the first among the freshman to finish the race. The Panther’s next three runners were freshmen Cameron Pavao (Methuen, Mass) and Brendan Polichronopoulos (Penacook, NH) and senior David Martino (Laconia, NH). The three placed 21st, 22nd, and 33rd with times of 28 minutes two seconds, 28 minutes 3 seconds, and 28 minutes 45 seconds.
With this win, the Panthers will be racing this Saturday November 8th at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts at the ECAC Division III Championships. The team looks to better their finish from last year, which was 32nd out of 43 teams.
