1. Men’s Ice Hockey (Last Issue: 1) – The men’s ice hockey team finishes on top in the winter rankings. After finishing 21-4-1 they have a date with Salem State Saturday to see who will be the MASCAC Champion. They won one out of the three meetings against Salem this season.
2. Men’s Basketball (Last Issue: 2) – The men’s basketball team finished 15-11. After starting out strong going 8-0 the boys faltered in conference play and lost in the first round of playoffs to Keene State.
3. Women’s Ice Hockey (Last Issue: 6) – Women’s ice hockey is coming off of their best season, winning 10 games, and have a good solid core returning to play next year.
4. Skiing (Last Issue: 5) – Led by strong individual performances, PSU skiers had a fantastic year with two athletes heading to the NCAA Championships in Colorado.
5. Indoor Track & Field (Last Issue: 3) – Out of 50 schools represented at the New England Championships, Plymouth track & field finished 23rd in the overall standings.
6. Swimming & Diving (Last Issue: 4) – Women’s Swimming and Diving had a strong season and finished 14th at the New England Championships led all season by newcomer Julia Mazza. Also special shout out to coach Al Switzer on his LEC coach of the year win.
Individual Athletes
1. Freshman Freydis Halla Einarsdottir (Gardabaer, Iceland) Skiing – Einarsdottir continues to impress, the freshman has posted eight top 10 finishes with two podiums. She is ranked 6th nationally and will represent PSU in the NCAA Championships in Colorado.
2. Senior Andrew Wigg (Lantz, N.S.) Men’s Ice Hockey – Wigg had another fantastic season on the ice for the Panthers, 10 goals and 19 assists lead the Panthers with 29 points as well as 5 game winning goals. It should come as no surprise he was named to MASCAC first team for the second straight year.
3. Freshman Emelie Lindqvist (Gulleråsen, Sweden) Women’s Ice Hockey – Lindqvist was named to the All-Rookie Team after a season that saw her have a 2.29 goals against average and a .923 save percentage.
4. Senior Max Martin (Salt Lake City, UT) Skiing – Martin is making his second trip to the NCAA Finals. He placed 8th out of 70 racers in giant slalom last meet, his best result of his career.
5. Senior Uche Nwokeji (Lynn, MA) Men’s Basketball – Nwokeji ended his senior season with 15.6 points per game while also pulling down 8.8 rebounds. He shot 57% from the floor and was a huge spark for the Panthers down the final stretch, including the 1,000 point mark against Keene State.
6. Freshman Joey Aumann (Hopatcong, NJ) Wrestling – Aumann finished sixth place, and earned All-New England recognition in the 125-pound bracket.
7. Freshman Sam Brunette (Newport, VT) Track & Field – Brunette placed sixth in the mile run at the New England Championships. He ran it with a time of 4:28.79.
8. Senior Gordon Ceasar (Oak Park, CA) Men’s Ice Hockey – Ceasar was named second team in conference with .921 save percentage and only allowing 2.00 goals against on average.
