Field Hockey (last issue UR) – The Plymouth State field hockey team is moving on to the LEC semifinals after defeating Fitchburg State 2-1 last Saturday evening at Elliot Field. Goals from Nicole Burgess (Mexico, ME) and Katie McPherson (Conway, NH) helped improve to 11-5 overall and will face the number one seed, Keene State at 6:00 PM

2. Men’s Soccer (last issue: 2) – On a cold and wet Senior Day at Arold Field, The Plymouth State University men's soccer team won their season finale against UMass Dartmouth 4-3. Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia) would set up the opening and game winning goals for Plymouth state. With two assists, Rutherford went into a tie with Simon Sendowski for ninth place on PSU’s all time assists.

3. Cross Country (last issue: 1)–both teams finished in fourth place during last weekend’s LEC championships. The Men’s took fourth place with top performances from race winner Sam Brunnette (Newport, VT) and third place finisher Warren Bartlett for a total of 97 points. The Women’s team broke their record for the highest finish in program history finishing with 114 points.

4. Women’s Hockey (last issue: UR)-The Women’s Hockey team opened their season up with a 4-4 tie at Buffalo state and a 3-0 loss to Morrisville state in the Bengals invitational tournament. Under new head coach Mykul Haun, the women’s team are 0-1-1 and are back for their home opener Friday night against Holy Cross.

5. Football (last issue: 3) – the PSU football team has dropped to the .500 mark after a 13-10 loss to Worcester state last Saturday afternoon at Coughlin field. The Panthers had a chance to tie the game and send it into overtime, but a 39-yard field goal with 34 seconds remaining went wide right. PSU has already played three overtime games this season.

Panther Athletes:

1. Nick Rutherford (Sydney, AUS)- Men’s Soccer-Rutherford enjoyed a three-point day while moving up in the team history book. With his two assists to bring his career total to 18, Rutherford is now tied for 9th all time for the most assists in a PSU men’s soccer career.

2. Sam Brunnette (Newport, Vt.)- Men’s Cross Country-Brunnette captured the Little East Conference individual men's cross country championship Saturday morning, outrunning a field of 59 runners in an 8k race.

3. Rileigh Goulette (Saint Albans, Vt.) Women’s Cross Country-Goulette finished in 12th place among the 85 runners last Saturday afternoon. She also set a new school record with a time of 19 minutes, 30 second for the 5k distance. Her time bettered the previous record of 19:42, and improved her personal best by a minute and eight seconds.

4. Shannon Hickey (Arlington MA) Women’s Hockey-Hickey started the 16-17 campaign with two goals and an assist against Buffalo state last Friday night while earning the #1 star of the game. Her 3-point performance also earned her the NHEC weekly Honor roll.
