The Plymouth State Women’s Hockey Team fell to Division I Independent Franklin Pierce 2-0 this past Friday at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. It was the Lady Panthers 5th loss of the season.
Both teams remained in a scoreless deadlock for a majority of the game. Franklin Pierce broke the tie when they snuck a shot past junior goalkeeper Emelie Lindqvist (Gulleråsen, Sweden) with 5 min- utes left in the match. Almost a minute later, the Ravens found the net again to make it a 2-0 contest, which would end up being the final score.
The star of the game, however, would be Lindqvist. The PSU goal- keeper turned away an astounding 46 out of the 48 shots she faced, keeping the game well in reach for the Panthers all night long. This was Lindqvist’s 3rd game, with 40 saves this season. Her record now is 2-3-2 in games that she has started, although her record does not reflect her stellar play this year.
Plymouth’s record this year now drops to 2-5-2 with a 2-2-2 in conference record. PSU’s next game was supposed to be Tuesday the 12th at Salem State, but that contest was postponed to a later date because of the heavy snowfall. The team’s next contest is going to be on Saturday, the 16th, when they will visit Endicott at 3 p.m..
