This Spring the Plymouth State Women’s Lacrosse team is starting the season off on the right cleat. They head into their first home game this weekend at the Holderness turf field with two back to back wins against Oneonta State and Hartwick College under their belts.

Starting off their season in late February at Babson and falling to their team 17-9, they quickly rebounded to beat MIT March 3rd, 17-11. On the road again for their next game against Bowdoin State on March 18th, Plymouth State was neck and neck at the end of the first half with Plymouth trailing by just one goal. In the second half, Bowdoin stepped up their field play by not allowing and more goals in their defensive end. The game ended 18-3.

After their first opening games, Plymouth took it up a notch in their offensive play. Plymouth’s next game against Hartwick College proved that Plymouth could be a second-hand team defensively and offensively, after a first half score with Hartwick leading 8-5 Plymouth came back ready for the second half. They scored 12 more times and only allowed in three goals for their opponents finishing the score off at 17-11. During this game, Senior Meghan Tingley (Natick, Mass) scored her 100th career point at Plymouth State. Plymouth outshot Harwick 46-19.

Their next game on the road at Oneonta was a battle of the strongest student athletes. Junior Kimberly Zuccaro (Townsend, Mass.) gave Panthers a 1-0 lead with her third goal of the season just under a minute. In the first half, after a back and forth toss up for the lead, Plymouth snuck by leading 7-6 to end the half. After a back and forth match off to see who would tie up the game and clear the upper hand, the Panthers came out for a strong finish. During the second half the senior Duo of Meghan Tingley and Sam Sullivan (Canton, Mass) tied the game, with Tingley scoring the game winner with 2:38 left in playing time. Oneonta out shot Panthers 36-33 for the game with the Panthers Senior goaltender Clarissa Foote (Weare, N.H.) made 15 saves to earn the win and held the Oneonta red dragons.

Panthers record this year is 3-2 as they head into their next game playing away on the road March 28th and will host their first home game Saturday March 31st on the Holderness campus.
