Panther Power Rankings

On October 24, 2014

Players

  1. Zara Jakubas, Tennis (Ranked 1st last issue): Jakubas has held the #1 spot for three straight issues, as she has dominated the 2014 Fall season. Going 12-0 in both singles and doubles matches will do that for you, as the Little East Conference championships loom large.
  2. Alivia Bates, Field Hockey (Unranked last issue): The field hockey team has won their last six games, and Bates has been a brick wall in net. Over the past four games, Bates has allowed only one goal, while notching five shutouts this season. Bates also recorded an assist against New England College.
  3. Sunny Jakubas, Tennis (Ranked 3rd last issue): Like her sister Zara, Jakubas has had a tremendous 2014 season, as she is undefeated in doubles matches, and posts a 11-1 singles record.
  4. Kaitlyn Wilder, Field Hockey (Unranked last issue): Wilder barely get the edge over teammate Nikki Garvey, as the sophomore has recorded points in her last four games. She scored what would end of being the game-winning goal against Salem State last week.
  5. Senad Mehmedovic, Soccer (Unranked last issue): Against the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth, Mehmedovic scored the second goal in the team’s big 2-1 win last weekend. With three games remaining in their regular season, watch for Mehmedovic to keep the Panthers rolling.

Teams

  1. Tennis(12-0 record, last issue 1st): No big surprise here, as going undefeated isn’t an easy task. The LEC post-season championship is the next hurdle this team will look to overcome.
  2. Field Hockey (11-2, last issue 2nd): Since losing to Keene 1-0, this team has been undefeated, going 6-2 in the month of October. Defeating UMass Dartmouth this weekend will allow the Panthers to clinch the #2 seed in the Little East Conference tournament.
  3. Men’s Soccer (5-8-1, last issue 4th): The last three games of the regular season are going to be tough contests for this team, but being able to capture two wins would do wonders for this team’s record and morale.
  4. Volleyball (11-15, last issue 3rd): Beating Middlebury College on Wed. afternoon puts this team on a four-match winning streak, and they will look to keep rolling against Eastern Connecticut State University and WPI on Sat. (10/25) afternoon
  5. Women’s Soccer (5-10, last issue 5th): Two big Little East Conference games loom large to determine what seed this team will get in the postseason tournament. Make sure to watch for Emily Bell help her team capture a crucial conference win.
